Can’t afford solar panels or heat pumps to save energy dollars? This program offers simple, low-cost alternatives to those expensive options. The public is invited to attend.

The presentation will feature inexpensive or no-cost tips for conserving energy in homes and businesses and is based on a weatherization and conservation workshop Barber provides to Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation constituents in five counties. Attendees at the Nov. 10 meeting will learn immediate and longer-term strategies to save money and will learn what they can do for themselves to conserve energy. For example, information is provided on how to build a simple draft dodger to block air leaks around doors and windows.

Barber is a LEED AP architect and housing and environmental design specialist for the southwest region/Greene County of the University of Missouri.

The White River Group of the Ozark Chapter of the Sierra Club includes more than 900 members of the national Sierra Club in southwest Missouri. The Group offers a program for members and the interested public at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. Come early for refreshments and networking at 6:30 p.m.
