Make plans now to attend the program loaded with
practical tips on saving energy.
Can’t afford solar panels or heat pumps to save energy dollars? This program offers simple, low-cost alternatives to those expensive options. The public is invited to attend. The presentation will feature inexpensive or no-cost tips for conserving energy in homes and businesses and is based on a weatherization and conservation workshop Barber provides to Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation constituents in five counties. Attendees at the Nov. 10 meeting will learn immediate and longer-term strategies to save money and will learn what they can do for themselves to conserve energy. For example, information is provided on how to build a simple draft dodger to block air leaks around doors and windows. Barber is a LEED AP architect and housing and environmental design specialist for the southwest region/Greene County of the University of Missouri.
Unconvinced of the need to save energy?....take a look at this: The White River Group of the Ozark Chapter of the Sierra Club includes more than 900 members of the national Sierra Club in southwest Missouri. The Group offers a program for members and the interested public at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. Come early for refreshments and networking at 6:30 p.m. The Group also offers outings and the opportunity to become involved in regional, state and local conservation and environmental issues.
