The Transportation Committee collaborates with activists from
the Kanza Group and other like-minded organizations to act
as the "Metropolitan Coalition for Sensible Transportation"
(MCST). The members identify key transportation and development
projects and issues in the Kansas City area, and bring an
environmental perspective to these projects and issues through
public comments and public information efforts. They work
to reduce inefficient "urban sprawl" development through our
efforts to reduce reliance on single-occupant motor vehicles;
to support public transit, walking, and cycling; to advocate
"smart growth" policies and strategies to guide regional development;
and to protect watersheds.
