Sierra Club endorses Jeff Harris for State Representative
by Chris Hayday, 2004 chapter political chair
State Representative Jeff Harris (D-23, Columbia) was first elected to the
Missouri House in 2002 and he has quickly become a great advocate for
environmental protection. He is extremely bright and has little
difficulty understanding not only the environmental threats, but he is also
effective in creating arguments to counter those threats. Jeff
consistently voted to oppose anti-environmental legislation last session and
has worked hard to also convince others to do the same. A rising star
within the Democratic party, Jeff was recently elected the Democratic Whip
meaning that he will be intimately involved in creating and advancing the
agenda for the Democratic Caucus. Accordingly, Jeff will keep the
environment front and center for the leadership of both parties.
Jeff was also endorsed by the Sierra Club for his first race for state
representative in 2002.
