Outings Leader: Kathi Knipfer (314)645-6805, kknipfer@earthlink.net

The focus of this outing is protection of the Mark Twain National Forest with potential application to other national forests. This outing will include hiking, a tour of forest areas by an area forest watcher, a fireside chat with the forest watcher, and development of an action plan to protect the MTNF. Conservation literature will be provided, and participants will come away with a tool kit that can be used to help protect the national forest system. Other activities may include explorations for wild flowers, birds, and even canoeing. Indoor accommodations are available as well as space for tents if participants are so inclined. We expect representatives from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri to attend. Some will meet in St. Louis and travel by car or van to the outing site. Others will be driving from Kansas City. Of course, we encourage car pooling. Interested parties should contact Kathi for additional details of the outing and to request a registration form. We are expecting great weather and great fun.
