The Common Sense Coalition wants to pack the Council Chambers at these two meetings since the final "reading" and then the "final vote" are scheduled on the Riverview Casino development proposal to be built on the Mississippi River flood plain and flyway in Spanish Lake. As you know, the County Planning Commission recommended the approval of this enormous casino development.

The Coalition encourages those who oppose the Casino to speak during the Public Comment section at these meetings. Speakers may need to sign a Speakers Card. The meetings are at County Council Chambers, County Government Center , 41 South Central in Clayton. There is a parking lot across the street from the Government Center .

The Common Sense Coalition has a short time to collect signatures to fight the Riverview Casino to be developed north of 270. At this time it is the wrong thing to do at the wrong time. The developers have not applied for a permit from the Army Corp of Engineers and a comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement needs to be done. We still have time to collect signatures to show the County Council what a bad idea this is. They have started the first reading this week.

The petition attached is not a legal petition but only to show a large group not willing to support this project. Take it to your work or shopping and talk it up to neighbors. I will collect the filled petitions. I also have flyers, and buttons.
